Description[]

Developed primarily as a loadermech, especially for heavy cargo, the Worker Crab was Schnucks Heavy Industries' break-out design. The company's ingenious mech was seen as a new boon for logistics, especially in the wake of the devastating clan invasion. Causing many Lyran worlds to order this mech in bulk to better aid in loading and unloading essential goods.

Deployment[]

The Worker Crab is often found throughout the Federated Commonwealth, but especially in the Lyran half. Due in part to the strong demand among Lyran worlds for such a mech and the fact that the primary industrial base, the planet Dekalb, is located in Lyran Space.

Capabilities[]

Excellent in transporting cargo, this mech saw proliferation on ports, both terrestrial and in space, due to its crab like hand actuators aided by the industrial triple strength myomer. Though faster than many of its peers, due to its fuel cell, the Worker Crab is able to in a pinch transport time-sensitive cargo.

Variants[]

  • Worker Crab Firefighter
In 3056, a fire broke out in the Schamberg spaceport damning its workers to certain death. Until a Worker Crab was used to remove the burning debris, allowing the workers to escape the burning port. These heroic events made their way across the Federated Commonwealth, inspiring Schnucks to make a dedicated firefighter variant that saw large success, especially in worlds that wanted to make their fire departments cost-effective.

Features such as the heatsink present in its fuel cell help the mech to stay cool in the heart of a fire. While its tracks allow it to move on paved roads without the risk of damaging them. Finally, its crab like hand actuators allow it to be able to remove debris like in the infamous Schamberg fire. Of course, the newly installed four sprayers, two in its claws allow it to quickly dispense of the fire. Also installed are pair of Paramedic Equipment pods for first responders access help the injure.[1]
  • Worker Crab MOD
Militarized variant of the 'Mech, the design was optimized for short range/close quarters combat. Sporting single SRM-6 launcher with twos of ammo, split between the side torsos. In place of the sprayers, four Small Lasers are split between the crab-like hand actuators. Six Heat Sinks has been fitted with seven tons of Heavy Industrial Armor round out the modifications to the design, giving it similar fighting profile to the Commando Light 'Mech, but much slower.[2]
  • Worker Crab MOD (MG)
A variant of the standard MOD, replacing the Small Lasers with four 20mm Machine Guns in hand actuators and reducing the heat sinks to a single, while retaining the seven tons of Heavy Industrial Armor. The machine guns are over stocked with two tons ammo split between the side torso. Overall, this weapons configuration effectively make it anti-infantry fighter.[3]
  • Worker Crab Astro
The only variant not officially made by Schnucks Heavy Industries. This came about from a licensing agreement between the Astro Mining Corporation and Schnucks as the Astro Corporation saw the potential of the Working Crab as being a loader and transporter in its asteroid mining stations. The only difference between the standard Worker Crab and the Astro variant is the installation of an environmental sealing.
