Overview[]
The Unity City-Class Assault Cruiser is Clan built troop transport intended conquest of the Inner Sphere during the Clan Invasion. Created at the directed by the Ghost Bear war planner, Frederick (Ghost Bear), the design is force through enemy aerospace defenses to delivery it's 'Mech compliment of two Clusters with command Supernova to planetary orbit to deployed via Drop Pods.
A creation of Fabius Maximus, whom intended for the Clans in alternated AU universe where technology was introduced sooner than expected in the Inner Sphere. The ship is featured in the fan story The Bull and the Genie.
Class History[]
As the conflict between the Clans and Inner Sphere grew in intensity one factor became increasingly common—dropships were no longer safe, especially for contested insertions, with pocket warships, SDS batteries and enemy warships all gunning for them. Inner Sphere generals congratulated themselves on being faster on their feet than the Clan rulers, while others wondered if the Clan's might return to the First Succession War method of neutralizing such defenses.
Canonity[]
The Unity City Class Assault Cruiser never existed in canon.
Deployment & History[]
Among the defenders, finding out where Unity City class ships were became a high priority as it gave a good idea as to where the next Clan offensives would fall.
The Unity City was very expensive for a troop ship and a number of the Clan Khans opposed it. But its ability to "pave the way" for follow up dropships endeared it to many Clan warriors and the honor attendant to being 'first in' ensured that there was never any lack of volunteers for the Unity City's mech cubicles, especially among the Freebirth of the Clans.
Armament and Equipment[]
The Unity City was heavily armored, carrying 75 mechs, 24 squads of battle armor and 12 small craft for general support. It's weapons were designed not so much for space combat, as orbital combat, missiles, NPPCs and lasers allowing for pinpoint bombardments of strong points without undue threat to surrounding communities (Especially since by this time both sides had located SDS defense sites well outside of city boundaries save for a few notable exceptions). The Unity City was not, as the Nightlord was, designed as a battleship that carried 'mechs, but a ship whose entire purpose was to bring a force into orbit, land them in the face of opposition, and then support them with accurate NPPC, missile and laser fire until a hole had been opened up in the planetary defenses allowing larger clan forces to land. That was one reason for the odd placement of some of its weapons, which made more sense in the context of a ship that ideally would spend more time shooting at the ground than targets in space.

Notes[]
- Wiki Note: This ship was created in MegaMek Lab, included in download links are Megamek file, PDFs of both Record Sheet & it's Alpha Strike Data Card.
Its unclear why no escape pods/life boats were not included. Tech Rating is not correct due to the year it was set, since the story takes place where some technologies such as Sub-Capital missiles, Pocket Warship (DropShips), and Laser based Anti-Missile System were not yet available in 3051 in canon, the Lab is unable to coop with tech being available out of it's era of introduction.
Image used is of a non-canon Fearless Class Assault Ship, which had similar role, its is here represent the class.
- Author's Notes: The ship was intended to have additional Capital Missiles. Author was unable to do so due to issue with MegaMekLab.
