Description[]

Effectively a variant of the Gazelle DropShip, the Tarawa revises the ship's weapons. In response to the large numbers of Gazelles lost while landed, the Tarawa fits large numbers of short-range weapons for close-in defense. It is primarily used by Free Rasalhague Republic units, as well as the FWLM.

Armament[]

With two Rotary AC/5s, two Medium Pulse Lasers and an LRM-20 in its nose bays, as well as two pulse lasers and two Anti-Missile Systems in each wing, and three more lasers in tail mounts, the Gazelle is suited for short- to medium-range engagements. It has proven useful against AeroSpace fighters due to the high accuracy of the Pulse Lasers.

Cargo[]

Exchanging 41 tons of cargo for additional fuel, the Tarawa still features 909 tons of bay space optimized for lighter vehicles such as VTOLs and light tanks. Accordingly, it has proven popular with units specializing in fast-attack operations.

Variants[]

Tarawa CV-The Tarawa's carrier variant removes all but 20 tons of cargo to accommodate a Squadron of six fighters, two additional aircraft, and all their associated maintenance equipment and ground crew.
