Description[]

State Profile: Republic of Crossroad (abbreviated SP:RoC) is a Sourcebook written by Retry. Set in what is called the Vela Corridor AU, the sourcebook features the nation of Republic of Crossroad, a colony turn micro-nation that was founded by elements of the SLDF. Originally a task force of ships dispatched from General Kerensky's Exodus Fleet, commanded by General Aaron DeChavilier. The Task Force Beholder was setup initially as a forward base for future operation into the Inner Sphere and SLDF's colonies in the Deep Periphery. However, with upheaval of the Pentagon Worlds, would lead to SLDF colony becoming it's own nation. Existing parallel from now far distant worlds that would be come collectively, Clan Space.

Publisher's Description[]

"The Republic of Crossroad is the newest colonial state (formed by external settlers and not created by secession or war) in the Vela Corridor, and has fluctuated between the strongest and 2nd strongest power in the region since around 3100. The state has been blessed by (mostly) friendly neighbors, and successfully avoided many pitfalls that befell either the Inner Sphere or Clan powers, either external (Succession Wars) or internal (Pentagon Civil War), resulting in a power whose power largely grew in peace-time while other, larger states were suffering from near-constant death and destruction.

An offshoot of the same Exodus Fleet that Aleksandr Kerensky led through unknown space, the Republic of Crossroad took a virtually polar opposite development path to the Clans. Where the Clans are a heavily stratified and hierarchal society, the Republic is strongly culturally egalitarian. Whereas the Clans concentrate immense power on their warrior elites in the political executives, the Republic has an entrenched democratic tradition with powers distributed among the branches of the federal government, as well as its planetary states. The Clan command economy contrasts sharply with the Crossroadian market, though Crossroad’s economic policies often vary between laissez faire and dirigisme depending on the administration. One of the few things the Clans and the Crossroad Republic can agree on is their reverence for Aleksandr Kerensky and their philosophical view on waste, though even then there’s major caveats."

Notes[]

  • Permission
Permission was given by both Harmless (creator of Amethyst Legion, Mechani Alliance) and Retry (CrossRoad Republic) to upload this book to the wiki.
  • Amethyst Legion, Mechani Alliance - While both factions make appearance in the Vela AU, they both are featured in their own universe, Mechani Alliance AU created by Harmless.
  • Origin
The Vela Corridor AU is one of three faction created by players who created this universe: Amethyst Legion, Mechani Alliance, (by Harmless) and Crossroad Republic (by Retry), all near each other in the deep periphery, in the region of space near the Gum Nebula with Crossroads specifically mainly located between there and the Vela Sheet. Some minor factions were added after that to flesh out the area a little bit more. The Deep periphery setting allowed them to grow a decent size while being far away enough from the Inner Sphere that they wouldn't meaningfully change the direction of the "main plot" (albeit with some major exceptions; For instance, the Clan Wolverine escape plan goes differently (more successful), and Clan Nova Cat survives thanks to Amethyst Legion intervention in the Drac's civil war), at least not until 3145-3152.
  • State of Other Factions
As of this writing there no other sourcebooks covering the Amethyst Legion or the Mechani Alliance.
