Salvaging from Strife
- Chapter 12 - Still Got It[]
Mech Tales from for Little MechWarriors[]
The Story of Little Red Riding Hood, from Mech Tales for Little Mechwarriors
Once upon a time there lived a little light Commando Mech. It was a loyal Lyran Mech, and everybody loved the Commando. Its loving Techs gave it a bright red coat, and an armoured hood around the cockpit, and so everybody called it Little Red Riding Hood.
One day, Little Red Riding Hood's Techs gave it a container of freshly made munitions, and told the Commando to bring these munitions to its old mentor Kell the Wolfhound, who defeated the wicked evil snakes and many other enemies besides, and now lived alone in a cottage near the border. The Techs told Little Red Riding Hood to follow the highway, and not to stray into the old battlefields. So the little Commando picked up the container and skipped along down the highway, singing to itself as it went.
Along the way, Little Red Riding Hood saw an Axman cutting salvage with its big axe. "Hello, Axman, a good day to you," the Commando said politely.
"Hello, little Mech, a good day to you too," the Axman said in return. "Are you going to visit your old mentor Kell the Wolfhound?"
"Yes, I am, good Axman," Little Red Riding Hood told the Axman. "I am bringing it a container of freshly made munitions from my Techs."
Be careful, Little Red Riding Hood," the Axman told Little Red Riding Hood. "There are evil wolves lurking around the old battlefields. Go straight down the highway and do not stray into the old battlefields."
"I will, good Axman. And a good day to you," Little Red Riding Hood said. Then it continued skipping down the highway, singing to itself as it went.
Now Little Red Riding Hood saw a Timber Wolf. "Hello, Timber Wolf, a good day to you." the Commando said politely.
"Hello, little Mech, a good day to you too," the Timber Wolf said in return. "Where are you going alone on the highway?"
"I am going to my old mentor Kell the Wolfhound, who defeated the wicked evil snakes and many other enemies besides, and now lives alone in a cottage near the border," Little Red Riding Hood told the Timber Wolf. "I am bringing it a container of freshly made munitions from my Techs."
"I have an idea, Little Red Riding Hood," the Timber Wolf told Little Red Riding Hood. "You should go and collect some trophies for your old mentor Kell the Wolfhound. I know where you can find many pretty trophies in the old battlefields, and your old mentor Kell the Wolfhound will like them."
"What a good idea, Timber Wolf. Thank you, and a good day to you," Little Red Riding Hood said. Then it followed the Timber Wolf off the highway, singing to itself as it went.
The Timber Wolf led Little Red Riding Hood to plains with pretty trophies scattered everywhere. The trophies were very pretty, so the Commando began collecting the pretty trophies and putting them into the container of freshly made munitions. The Timber Wolf went down the highway while the little Mech was busy collecting the pretty trophies, and went to the cottage where the old mentor Kell the Wolfhound lived, who defeated the wicked evil snakes and many other enemies besides.
The Timber Wolf knocked on the door of the cottage. "Who is there?" Kell the Wolfhound asked.
"It is I, Little Red Riding Hood, with a container of freshly made munitions from my Techs," the Timber Wolf said. Then the Timber Wolf opened the door, and leapt upon the poor old mentor Kell the Wolfhound and made it a bondsman. The Timber Wolf swallowed Kell the Wolfhound into its cockpit, then the Timber Wolf painted itself in the colors of the poor old mentor Kell the Wolfhound. Then it equipped the IFF of Kell the Wolfhound and stood in the Mechbay of the poor old mentor Kell the Wolfhound.
Now, the little Commando Little Red Riding Hood finished collecting the pretty trophies and putting them into the container of freshly made munitions. It went back to the highway and went skipping down the highway, singing to itself as it went. And so Little Red Riding Hood went to the cottage where its old mentor Kell the Wolfhound lived, who defeated the wicked evil snakes and many other enemies besides.
Little Red Riding Hood knocked on the door. "Who is there?" the Timber Wolf asked. It sounded like the poor old mentor Kell the Wolfhound, who defeated the wicked evil snakes and many other enemies besides.
"It is I, Little Red Riding Hood, with a container of freshly made munitions from my Techs." Little Red Riding Hood said. "Can I come in, my old mentor Kell the Wolfhound?"
"Come in, come in." the Timber Wolf said. And so Little Red Riding Hood entered the cottage.
The cottage was dark, and Little Red Riding Hood could not see very well. The Commando saw a Mech in the Mechbay of her old mentor Kell the Wolfhound, wearing the colors of Kell the Wolfhound and transmitting the IFF of Kell the Wolfhound.
"Come closer, my dear," the Mech in the Mechbay said.
Little Red Riding Hood looked and said, "My, Kell the Wolfhound, what big arms you have!"
"All the better to hug you with, my dear," the Mech in the Mechbay answered.
Little Red Riding Hood looked and said, "My, Kell the Wolfhound, what big legs you have!"
"All the better to follow you with, my dear," the Mech in the Mechbay answered.
Little Red Riding Hood looked and said, "My, Kell the Wolfhound, what big weapons you have!"
"All the better to shoot you with, my dear!" the Timber Wolf shouted, and jumped out of the Mechbay. Little Red Riding Hood screamed and shot, but it was no use. The Timber Wolf captured poor Little Red Riding Hood and made it isorla, then took the container of freshly made munitions and made it isorla too. And the Timber Wolf swallowed both poor Little Red Riding Hood and the container of freshly made munitions into its cockpit.
Now the Axman was chopping salvage near the cottage of the old mentor Kell the Wolfhound, and it heard Little Red Riding Hood scream and shoot. It ran to the cottage of the old mentor Kell the Wolfhound at once. When the Axman saw the Timber Wolf in the cottage of the old mentor Kell the Wolfhound, it knew what had happened and chopped the Timber Wolf with its big axe. The Axman slew the Timber Wolf with one blow, and out of its cockpit came the old mentor Kell the Wolfhound and Little Red Riding Hood and the container of freshly made munitions.
And so the three were happily together again. The Axman took the Timber Wolf as salvage, the old mentor Kell the Wolfhound took and loaded the container of freshly made munitions that Little Red Riding Hood brought and was strong and Lyran again, but Little Red Riding Hood thought, "never again will I go away from the path my Techs tell me to take!"
Mech Tales for Little Mechwarriors was a commercial failure. Critics cited the poor grasp of Mech tactics as a major factor.
