Unit History[]
Origin and Formation[]
In 3039, Captain David Mitchell and his infantry company part of the 33rd Breed Mechanized Infantry Regiment had uncovered hard drives from enemy vehicles aftermath of fighting against Draconis Combine on Breed at the end of the War of 3039. The Star League Defense Force vehicles were originally gifted machines obtained from Comstar.
Corporal Davis had uncover a hard drive containing file named "Periphery Report 2765, Outworlds Alliance 18th Army Deployments", which appeared to detail SLDF deployments and bases in what was the colonial area in Outworlds Alliance had been abandoned by 3039.
Mitchell, Corporate Davis, and Master Sergeant Harry Caldwell used a salvaged Star League era BattleMaster to process and print the information from the drives.
Mitchell's people had surmised from the information where there possible salvage and supply bases were located.
The Captain presented this to his command, whom alerted NAIS detachment from New Avalon to examine the drives whom soundly declined using them.
Going into Business[]
Having been fed up with behavior of his command, Captain Mitchell and his decided use the data to go into business for themselves. December 3039, Captain Mitchell resigns from newly formed Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth and teams up with Corporate Davis, and Master Sergeant Harry Caldwell agreed to attempt to recruit others and pool their resources to purchase some used dropships and recruit a JumpShip for the venture into Outworlds Wastes.
First Mission[]
Toten Expedition[]
In June 3040, David Mitchell and Cardwell would make contact with Division Head of Alliance Mining and Geology, Susan Long in the Outworlds Alliance on Sevon. They brokered a deal with the company's division head, Susan Long. She would show interest in Mitchell and Cardwell's future endeavor in the former Alliance space. The hard drives had included a data indicating lost mine for Germanium, which is key mineral needed to build JumpShips's KF Jump Drives.
However, her company's overall CEO would need to approve the venture, Adam Smith Pallas.
Pallas being a unscrupulous business man, tries to swindle the information from Mitchell and Cardwell, however Mitchell is able negotiate a deal with cut of the resources for supplies and equipment for the expedition in form of pair of DropShips and use of a Invader Class JumpShip.
At the same time on the world of Layover, Sergeant Major Pullman negotiates additional resources for the former AFFS members venture in form of ship and troops; 322 people and 8 vehicles and 250 tons of assorted supplies and ammunition.
Pallas hires Interstellar Expeditions as part of the venture to handle aerospace side and to investigate the ruins of the SLDF facilities. They meet up with Mitchell and his group in November, 3040 in the Inner End system on fringes of the Federated Suns' border.

Within the month, Mitchell's expedition reaches former Outworlds Alliance System of Toten. Where they indeed discover ruins facilities of the SLDF stationed in this system. In system, Mitchell group would discover military hardware as well as mining related equipment left behind by the SLDF. These discoveries would further increase the Mitchell's lostech hunting company's fortunes greatly as well enhance it's military capacities.
However, it would turn out some of the Interstellar Expedition hirees were pirates when not hired as mercenaries. They would go try to sabotage and swindle some of expedition of it's finds as well hijack the entire group. However, despite the expedition's jumpship being disabled, Mitchell's former AFFS soldiers turn the tables with them and capture their Intruder Assault Dropship as they tried forcefully capture the ship in boarding action. Despite Major "Lockton"'s efforts to capture the entire expeditions crews, he ends up being captured along with the Intruder. However, Kellog, Captain/Ship's Master of the remaining JumpShip, gives up the effort and departs the system in the expedition's only functional jumpship. However, among the derricks, there is a Tramp Class Jumpship, which allowed for repairs to be conducted to the disabled Invader and return to Inner End in the FedSuns.
Despite the short comings and near disaster of the expedition, they had bonded with other hirees of the Interstellar Expedition and ship crews to being formation of the what would be come the SaRI in February 3041.
Unexpected attack and company is formally named[]
In May, due to outcome of the first mission and being outdone by former soldier, Adam Smith Palla of Alliance Mining and Geology would seek revenge on Mitchell and his enterprise by leading expedition back to Toten to lay claim to salvage there before his rival would return. However, in meantime he would as per their agreement send Invader JumpShip and small fleet of DropShips to Inner End in questionable condition.
On Inner End, the Mitchell's growing Lostech armed salvaging company is attack at their warehouse by unknown force using unknown stealthy suits. However, Mitchell's attachment on planet lead by Sergeant Major Pullman was able to repulse the attackers. FedCom's intelligence agency would get wind of the attack and ultimately report their findings to the FedCom leaders on New Avalon by local MIIO spy chief Agent Jessica Hammel.
By June, Captain Michelle is redirected back to the Inner End due to the attack by Agent Hammel. He soon learns of the details, but is fortunate that they had come out minior injuries. Alliance Mining and Geology's promised new assets arrive in form of a Invader Jumpship, pair of Monarch Class Passenger DropShips, and a single Mule Cargo DropShip. On their arrival, Captain Mitchell formally names the company, Search and Recovery Inc, or initial S.a.R.I.
This would soon reached "retired" head FedSuns Spymaster Quintus Allard whom would journey to Inner End to meet with the Captain Mitchell and his company.
Toten Expedition - 2nd Sortiee[]
Basic Composition[]
The SaRI originally started off as principally a mix infantry & aerospace unit, with no BattleMech forces among their numbers in 2041.
In late 2042, the unit expanded with additional SLDF salvage and income to become true Combined Arms Regiment, Battalion of each of Mechanized Infantry, BattleMechs, Wing of AeroSpace Fighters, with Combat Vehicles (Tanks) Integrated organically with the Infantry.

- Originally a 12 year career office in the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns (AFFS), whom was snubbed by FedSun officers. With discovery of the SLDF files, he would become officer whom he always had strive to be. Always protected his people and his nation, in his mercenary command whom had elected him to his rank he drive keep that trust.
- Master Sergeant Harry Caldwell
- Founding member of SaRI, he was enlisted in the AFFS under the command of the Captain Mitchell. He became key figure working behind the scenes to pulling together the recruiting and key members of the unit as the yet unnamed business enterprise formed.
- Corporate Davis
- Former AFFS enlisted, a founding member of SaRI whose discovery of the hard drives hidden in Kurita tanks. A outspoken fellow, who's actions lead to the formation of SaRI and kept it's commanding officer in line.
