Abbeville Mission 4[]
- 4th Mission Spaceport
- The Spaceport has been flooded with civilians being evacuated. Women and children are being loaded and sent up to Homefleet 24 hours per day.
- Civilian men were being hastily trained and armed, then moving back out into the city to engage in harassing attacks through guerilla warfare.
- In the WOB terror they have begun targeting civilians but, many have begun disappearing. Everyone is concerned about the possibility of re-education camps.
- This battle could be as big as the players want to where whatever functional equipment from either the Battalion or Level III have left could participate.
- Map Construction
- The map should be constructed with the Nomad forces deploying within the spaceport
- They are already on the tarmac and in a defensive position
- I would recommend adding additional barriers to have all four shuttles be in separate areas so they are not easily destroyed by one line of sight
- Once armor is breached, the shuttles will be destroyed
- Shuttle armor:
- Nose: 160 points of armor
- Left/Right: 48 points of armor
- Aft: 64 points of armor
- Walls: 80 points of armor
- WOB Objectives
- Primary (100 points):
- Destroy Transports: 50 Points each
- Transports depart at the end of turns 2, 4, 6, 8.
- Roll a D4 or D12 to determine transport at random
- POW: Cripple Commander and have unit adjacent
- Bring The Pain: Destroy/Cripple 75% of enemy force
- Destroy Transports: 50 Points each
- Primary (100 points):
- Nomad Republic Objectives
- Primary (100 points)
- Protect Transports: 50 Points each
- End Rivalry: Kill Commander with Commander
- Stand Your Ground: At least 50% of BV survives
- Primary (100 points)
- Deployment:
- WOB is attacker and chooses BV
- WOB enters battlefield walking/running/jumping
- Nomad Republic is the defender and matches the Word of Blake BV
- Nomad Republic deploys within the designated Spaceport area
- Either side may field a superheavy mech
- WOB may field Celestials
- Conditions of Victory:
- This is a story based mission where the players tell the story, consider these details when running the mission and considering its end point
- Victor is determined by players when it is no longer feasible to hold the field or to accomplish additional objectives for one side.
- Players may be able to make a last ditch effort to save a downed pilot before ceding the battlefield, for example
- Victors:
- If WOB is victorious campaign ends
- WOB occupies Cottonport and takes control of Abbeville
- WOB establishes its first re-education camp
- WOB begins to move toward Homefleet in a threatening manner, causing Homefleet to depart the planet and prepare to move toward New Avalon
- If Nomad Republic is victorious campaign ends
- Nomad Republic is able to save a great many people but so many are left behind
- If WOB is victorious campaign ends
- Additional Notes:
- Thank you for your interest in reading or playing through the Abbeville Campaign!
- There are some important details to remember here:
- The Word of Blake has arrived with a massive amount of armament and personnel.
- The WOB leader does not want to gut his own force on the first planet they encounter.
- The Nomad Leader wants to see his people and the civilians survive so is not going to charge head first. Actions on the ground are delaying actions.
- While the Word of Blake is taking Abbeville no matter what, players can compare Objective points scored to determine who was the tactical victor.
- I am working on ideas where victory here could provide benefits for other campaigns - Alpheratz, Taurus, and Point Barrow to name a few.
- If you have battle reports or even just images of the games, please share them with me and I can share them around, I always enjoy seeing other people's battles!
I sincerely hope you enjoy these missions and helping Nomad Republic fight off the Word of Blake on Abbeville! if you have any follow-up questions, reach out to me on Facebook or check out the Battletech into the Future Facebook page! -Minis & Dumbbells
