Kevin's perspective
Kevin looked at the projection in front of him. His new neighbors were wasting no time preparing their defenses and settling in.
He wasn't surprised. He put on a good show, but it was obvious what he had done. What this Daniel and his group did not know was exactly what was eventually come for them. It would likely still be some time before the Orcs and Goblins to the south would recover enough to make another push through those grounds. The Harpies that used to infest Ivan's lands might recover enough to be a threat sooner than them, and path of least resistance was a thing even for flying creatures in war.
"Such an interesting ploy you've pulled. Filling the gaps so others take the brunt of any attacks meant for you." Kevin's wife Selena had returned from her trip.
She hadn't aged a day since they met and was achingly beautiful to look at. Her flawless slightly tanned skin and shoulder length black hair made her bright green eyes stand out.
"I know you jest, but it is good to see you again. You have fun?" Kevin smiled.
"Only slightly. I do respect that you convinced them to pay you for the honor of being your shield. You know how that kind of naughtiness turns me on." Selena gave a wicked grin.
"Get over here you Demon." Kevin smiled.
Selena crossed the throne room and climbed into the throne with Kevin.
Kevin reached under his wife's top, taking it off for her. He then found her weak spot on her lower back. A pair of leathery dark red wings and a long tail popped from her back.
"I hate that you know I'm sensitive right above my tail. I'll have to punish you for that." Selena purred.
"It's good to be the King." Kevin smiled, glad he had found a way to tame this creature and make her his.

Fezik's perspective
Inventory of the weapons stocks was not heartening. A few hunting rifles, some hand guns, and not much in the way of reserve ammunition for them was all that anyone had admitted to so far.
He suspected there might still be some hold outs that hadn't decided to contribute to the common defense but he knew that there couldn't be that many, nor could they have anything much better.
Neither of their neighbors had given any hint of having much of a manufacturing base with which to solve the problem via trade. It was obvious that Kevin was using them as a speed bump against enemies he had made. It was somewhat understandable even if he didn't like it. Why waste your resources when you can make someone else use theirs?
Still while he wasn't the statesman that Daniel was, even he could see that making the admission to this Kevin that they needed his resources to protect themselves would rob them of any chance of becoming self sufficient. Hell his read on the man was that he'd be more than happy to make them all slaves in all but name.

Daniel's perspective
Daniel was still digesting Ivan's reports. This nebula was quickly becoming the thing of nightmares.
On the surface it looked to be a dream come true but any rational examination though quickly revealed the truth.
Syberia, the Star Empire, 'Earth', and Toreel all had technologies fit to give anyone nightmares with their implications.
Except maybe Alaric and his Wolves. If they uncovered the original Star League reports, which was quite possible now that they controlled Terra, they would come here and in a heart beat. Their hubris though would only result in a lot of needless death and destruction.
