Meanwhile at Wellman Castle...
Kevin was deep in thought. He wasn't sure what to make of what he had just watched yet.
"Hate to say it honey, but I think at least Daniel has figured out we're spying on him." Selena purred next to him.
"Seems likely. I think he had help though. But how I'm not sure yet." Kevin's forehead scrunched up even more.
"Well we had our usual array of perception enhancers up and didn't see or hear anyone." Selena seemed less concerned.
"So had to be some form of telepathy but who..." The mystery was really getting to him now.
"How big would you say that ruby in the other ring was?" Selena sat up.
"Almost too big for a ring." Kevin answered.
"Shit. Someone is soul gemmed in that ring then." Selena remarked.
"Right. Been here nearly fifty years and I still haven't fully grasped everything possible here yet. Now who is in there...." The frustration was almost too much now.
"Almost too many possibilities." Selena murmured.
"A caster, a powerful one. One that didn't get away." Kevin grumbled.
"So not the Glasscannon or the Silverfall sisters." Selena was now deep in thought as well.
"Where did I see that other ring before..." Kevin grumbled.
"Oh I think I remember! It was just after Heinrich woke up." Selena perked up.
"Yes. The one that was obsessed with spiders... What was her name now..." The name was on the tip of his tongue.
"Melisa? Meridith? Mel something..." Selena rambled.
"Melinda. That's it! Yes. I had Heinrich do to her what most people do to spiders. Step on her. Violently and repeatedly. Was oddly satisfying." The memory made Kevin smile.
"She could be a problem. Should I go get her?" Selena coiled around her husband.
"No need. Seems Daniel has decided she is more trouble than she is worth and handled it nicely for us." Kevin watched Daniel put the rings in a box and label it UNSAFE.
"Oh that's almost too good." Selena chuckled.
"Let's see what their recon teams are getting up to." Kevin adjusted the orb and the projection updated.
The image showed a trueborn Elemental grappling with an Orc.
"This should be good." Kevin smiled.
