Description[]
In 3030s, the Federated Suns' NAIS embarked on Independent development of new BattleMech design. After much development, the Marauder was used as basis of this new design, designated the Perilous, originally code named "Penetrator".
Independence Weaponry issued only a few prototypes of its 'Penetrator' to a group of trusted of MechWarriors, including Major Bishop Sortek, or the Davion Guard Brigade This unique design was created by fan writer, AlphaMirage, for his fan book Ian Davion, Golden Lion.
Armament and Equipment[]
Originating from base of the MAD-3M model Marauder, the design was deceivingly conceived as a Marauder with Jump Jets, once nicknamed the "Jumping Jack". Classified under the code name "Penetrator", the Perilous shares the Marauder's reversed leg / pod walker stance, with it's forward jutting center torso. Additionally, the 'Mech shares the MAD's maximum speed using a 300-Rated Fusion Engine with 21 Heat Sinks.
However, this where the design differs and adventures into new areas. Intended to be useful in tactical situations, where positioning is key to victory in some cases. The Mech sports four Jump Jets, giving it 120 meter range of flight. The Jumpjets were developed originally from ancient design known as the Hammerhands.
It's hull is protected by 11.5 tons of standard BattleMech armor. While modestly protected, it's long pike like arms appear to be less armored than it's distant cousin.
Arguably it's most important feature is its weapons. The design strictly uses laser type weapons only to attack targets. Long Range firepower comes from it's pair of Large Lasers (or old techs call, heavy lasers), mounted in each of spike like arms which can be flipped behind it should enemy get behind the Perilous. It's secondaries include six Medium Lasers, 2 found attached to the arms, with 2 in each of the design's side torsos.

- Outsider7724 created the MegaMek/Solaris Skunk Works files for this mech, since it was purely fluff (story based)
- The Perilous was originally known as Penetrator where it shares much of same qualities of the canon 3055 machine of the same name. However, the Mech presented visually here also known Falconer which the author had said it was mix of it and the canon Penetrator. Thus arms of Penetrator, body of a Falconer, which is also 75 tons like the Marauder Heavy 'Mech.
