Overview[]
The Onslaught-Class Assault Frigate is a WarShip. A high-speed large Frigate, designed conduct high speed runs on targets, utilizing pair unique Repeating Light Naval Gauss Rifles.
The ship was designed by Scientists working in New WarShip Program on jointly control Clan world of Tukkayid. Originally intended as a Battlecruiser, but to avoid arms race. Clan Nova Cat scientist had modeled the Onslaught as the spiritual replacement for large SLDF Congress-Class Frigate.
The ship was first used in the Alternate Time with Thanks AU and later entered into the Zhuhov AU.
Armaments and Capacities[]
Protecting the hull is 518 tons Lamellor Ferro-carbide armor, with nearly even protection with exception aft, which is down 10%. It's engines are create enough thrust to move the ship at speeds that of a speedy cruiser.
The ships designed to attack target directly by the nose. The ship's primary fire power is from a pair of Repeating Naval Gauss Rifles (NP) or 'reapers' as they were sometimes known. Supporting this would be two clusters of three naval pulse laser 55's from Clan Snow Raven. Whilst mounted in the front left and right quarters of the ship the hull was shaped in such a way to allow all six lasers to fire over the bow, but only on limited arcs, the ships Captain would have to 'centerline' a target to allow all the lasers to engage.
Two turrets mounting Medium Naval PPC's would be mounted on each broadside but the ships other weapons would be clusters of Class 2 Sub Capital lasers. The weapons had been used for decades by the Inner Sphere powers, the Clans had avoided the weapons but faced with the reality of large, tough and well armed assault dropships that could threaten a Warship. The sub capital weapons were seen as a viable alternative vs heavy capital ship weapons and their potency against dropships could not be denied. Notably, the ship's aft, there are two SubCapital bays of the class 2 SubCapital lasers
The ship features strong arrays of ER Large Lasers, Laser AMS in all firing arcs.
