New Dawn in the Sun's is character driven BattleTech fan story center around Federated Suns world of Brockton and it's spirited ruling family.
The story written by GSpectre, whom has centered the story around a variant universe.
It was first posted on the SpaceBattle.com forums in December 2022 by GSpectre. It is presented here with the permission of the author.
Synopsis[]
As the Third Succession War grinds to a shuddering halt the Inner Sphere begins to pick itself up and reverse the centuries long decline it has been in. One family pushes to better their place in the Inner Sphere.
Author's Introduction[]
This is an idea that takes heavy inspiration from Cannonshop's Kowloon series over on CBT (Classic BattleTech Forums), it's not in any way related, but I did want to acknowledge that influence from the start. This is a Fed Suns centered AU, starting at the end of the Third Succession war and covering at least the beginning of the coming tech renaissance. That said, there are some AU elements which need to be acknowledged from the start, Battletech is an old IP, and because of its age there have been issues. One of the ones I'm addressing directly is primitive tech, as in this AU it emerged much earlier. The other is a complete lack of native weapons development at the start of the tech recovery. In this AU people started to design new weapons almost as soon as the recovery began, rather than that only occurring after Star League tech had been recovered. That said, I've written enough for this to be worth posting, even if I'm hardly the most consistent writer around, so hopefully; Enjoy. ~~ GSpectre
