Glengarry
Isle of Skye region
Lyran Commonwealth
January 22nd, 3098

"...fires have gutted sections of Dunkeld tonight, on the tenth day of peaceful protests demanding the withdrawal of Lyran Commonwealth forces from Glengarry.  Organizers for Republic Now and the National Unity Anti-Fascism Front have stated that the fires are not the result of rioting.  Planetary Vice-Governor Ernest Regan has repeatedly refused to mobilize Planetary Militia Forces in response to the protests.

Glengarry's noble representative and Noble ruler Alex Carlysle remains in protective sequestration by order of the Vice Governor while he recovers from injuries sustained at the beginning of this series of mostly peaceful protests.

Hesperus II
Lyran Commonwealth
January 22nd, 3098

"...problematic, the arms embargo directed at the Republic of the Sphere has cost Defiance Hesperus trillions of Kroner in export contracts and given a leg up to our competitors in neighboring states.  The most frustrating part of this is that previous trade restrictions were at least justified by a state of war.  Adam Steiner's refusal to permit sales to the Republic has damaged Defiance Hesperus for no reason.  Obviously this hasn't happened before.  Even during the succession wars, we only had to worry about contracts from nations that were at war with the Commonwealth.  Andrew should either lift those restrictions, which are nonsensical, or step down for someone who will."
