Gwydion Company is a mercenary outfit hailing from the Duchy of Tamarind in the Free Worlds League.

MRBC Unit Brief - 3065[]

Gwidyon Company was founded by Ellis Carnby in 3047 around a small core of Free Worlds League Military veterans, primarily from the Tamarind Military District. Though its initial performance was somewhat rocky, with a combination of political acumen and careful skill Carnby managed to grow her unit from a lance-strength new-kid-on-the-block to a full BattleMech company of good reputation and capability.

Historically, Gwydion Company has primarily operated in and around the Free Worlds League on behalf of that state and its affiliated private entities in both offensive and defensive capacities, though in recent years the company has been known to operate farther afield.

MRBC Rating: B

Officers[]

Captain Ellis "Carronade" Carnby is the sole surviving representative of a minor noble family from Maxwell and a veteran of the 2nd Free Worlds Guards. Mustering out of the FWLM after the death of her mother, Carnby sold what little inheritance she received and used the proceeds to purchase an old Union-class DropShip and begin building out her small mercenary force. She has led Gwydion Company since its creation from the cockpit of her venerable ancestral Catapult ever since.

Tactics[]

The majority of Gwydion Company's MechWarriors hail from the Duchy of Tamarind in the Free Worlds League, a region hard-pressed by heavy Lyran assaults during the Succession Wars. This history has a marked affect on their approach to combat, which tends toward a focus on the precise application of maximum possible firepower at long range, the better to combat a foe with a well-known predilection for heavier brawling 'Mechs. As such, the company's 'Mechs tend to fall into the maneuverable fire-support or swift scout-and-spotter role, though Carnby has made some efforts to better balance a force that has proven vulnerable when pinned down in the past through the acquisition of a pair of F-92 Stingray AeroSpace fighters. The unit bills itself as a generalist force, capable of handling almost any combat scenario within reason for their size.

Support[]

Though never a dazzling financial success, Gwydion company is well and carefully managed and led, allowing it to maintain skilled technical and medical staff sufficient to completely cover its needs aboard its private Union-class DropShip, the GCS Oakshield.
