Description[]
Ferret Power Armor Fast Infantry variant is a light weight armored infantry issued suit belonging to the Hegemony (in the Fate Can Be Cruel fan book series).
The former SLDF turn, Periphery-based Terran Hegemony developed the suit in it's self-imposed exile from the war torn galactic home of humanity, the Inner Sphere. The Fast Infantry is a variant developed as alternative to it's standard model Ferret which uses Jump Jets in place of increase ground speed. This increase speed can take enemy troops by surprise as well be able maneuver in fashion normal troops would not normally be able to accomplish with it's armored protection.
The Hegemony fields squads of six troopers of these powerful and speedy units originally deployed by Special operations troops beginning in the 29th Century starting in 2850. As production rose, the Hegemony Armed Forces (HAF) began issuing field the suits to Regular Regimental Forces by 2961. The Squad were originally transported by Prowler Personal Transport. However, by suit's first deployment the Turhan II BA Transport.
While Hegemony had largely been isolation from rest of Human space, the Ferret first saw action in the Tortuga Dominion during 3009 Tortuga Dominion invasion.. Where they performed well, but largely were unknown to rest of the Inner Sphere as well and ever present ComStar.
Armament and Capabilities[]
Fast Infantry variant, commonalty known as the Non-Jump version, is a highly mobile ground unit. It is on par with the earlier PA, with considerable more armor and while differing with its increase ground speed. The suits uses Armored Gloves which allows troopers to use infantry type weapons in addition to it's built in weapon system. This is necessity due to Suit's lack of built-in Anti-Personnel weaponry.
The suit's features it's primary weapon found in it's left arm, an Extended Range Small Laser. The weapon like much of the Hegemony technology is based on Clan Technology developed by survivors of Clan Wolverine. While in the field, the suit acts as a spotter with it's Improved Sensors.

Variants[]
The Ferret being first of the Hegemony armored infantry troops designed by it's own scientist not associated with the past Star League. The scientist/engineers had developed two further variants for the Power Armor.
- Ferret Power Armor (Standard)
- Primary version of the suit, this variant adds Jump Jets at the cost it's mobility and extra weapons/equipment
- Ferret Power Armor (Marine)
- Intended for space operations, boarding hostile spacecraft, this Marine variant hosts tools for force entry and combat.
