Overview[]

A creation of 2ndAcr, the Essex III-Class Destroyer is a warship design produced in the Fate Can Be Cruel/Hegemony AU's Hegemony faction. Based on the Essex II-Class Destroyers once built in early 28th Century. The ships were built in secret by the Hegemony as replacement for older ships inherited from old Star League and original Terran Hegemony, first coming online in 2790. The ship being designed to be self-sufficient, with little reliance on expendables. However, the ship lacks Dock Collars for DropShips.

Armament and Equipment[]

Built with no expendable weaponry in mind, the ship uses all energy weapons for both it's capital and standard weapon bays. Primary weapons comes from number Naval Medium PPCs, found in the ship's broadsides, where it's maximum firepower can be focused. Forward arc mounts pair of Naval Heavy PPCs in a single Capital Weapons bay. Long-Range firepower needs is handled is further enhanced by four Class-55 Naval Lasers mounted in each of the ship's firing arc with exception of the front. The ship's secondary defenses comes from array pulse lasers providing for anti-aerospace fire support and point defense.

While retaining the same speed as older Essex Class WarShips built in the past, the Essex III has been armored by 740 tons of Ferror-carbide armor. Mostly even in it's protection with slightly more in nose of the ship and right and left front facing arcs.

Cargo[]

  • Bay 1 - Fighters (12) / Small Craft (4) - 6 Doors
  • Bay 2 - Small Craft (4) - 2 Doors
  • Bay 3: Cargo (53361.0 tons) - 1 Door
