Author's Description[]

The history of the Inner Sphere is filled with tales of Mercenaries, of their brave, despicable, noble, heroic and monstrous deeds depending on whom you ask. Its also full of tales of individual MechWarriors, heroes, monsters, and everything else in between. And what often marks them out, apart from their skill at arms and their deeds is their ‘Mechs. The Black Widow’s Warhammer, the Bounty Hunter’s Marauder, Legend Killer, Yen-Lo-Wang, these are ‘Mechs that live in legend and story.

But these are an outlier, most Mercenary forces do not last long, coming together for a job and then drifting apart, or failing in their mission and ending their lives either on the battlefield, as prisoners, or simply vanishing, never to be seen again. And, likewise many ‘Mechs, from mass produced Wasps to FrankenMech’s cobbled together in a backwater by a team of eager amateurs that might be the only example of their kind are forgotten. But some designs are fortunate enough to be noticed by firms, or are produced in limited runs for special roles. Just as common in this category are prototypes and special builds requested by only the most wealthy firms or individuals for testing or even offered for full scale production, or a small firm that takes a gamble and gets very lucky even in the face of the Inner Sphere’s Military- Industrial Complex.

To be a MechWarrior who strikes it lucky like this is to become wealthy beyond their grandest dreams and to have a legacy that continues, even after the designer is dead and gone. In this book you will find some of the designs made through expediency, wealth, power and luck that would appear in the Inner Sphere during the Clan Invasion, as well as some attempts by the Great Houses to counter their enemies technological advantages.
