Overview[]
A creation of 2ndAcr, the Brandt-Class Corvette is a WarShip design produced in the Fate Can Be Cruel/Hegemony AU's Hegemony faction. While not the fastest design of it's size produced since the Terran Hegemony, it weaponry in comparison can be considered to be the heaviest of all Canon corvettes.
The Class was named for Terran Hegemony Fleet Admiral Joan Brandi, whom died while fighting save guard aboard her flag ship Thunderer.
The initial prototype had left it's berth in 2792 and was tested extensively by the Hegemony Navy before being accepted for full production in 2794. The first Division of 6 had been completed in 2796 and the 2nd Division of 6 in 2797 and the final Division of 6 was completed in 2799. The class was named in her honor, Brandt Corvette.[2]
Armament and Equipment[]
Like most new designs built by the Hegemony, the ship has all energy armament arrangement for it's firepower. While not as fast as other Corvettes, the ship has long reach firepower in form of 22 Naval Lasers, fitted in quad of NL/55s in Capital Bays in each of the ship's firing arcs with except of the aft/rear where only 2 of theses lasers are mounted. It's anti-warship firepower is further enhanced by trio of Medium sized Naval PPCs fitted in each of it's broadside arcs.
Standard weapons are utilize pulse laser designs, with smallest being used as point defense weapons, while larger medium and large pulse lasers used for anti-fighter defense.
Brandt's hull has been fitted with by 287.5 tons of improved ferro-aluminum armor. Mostly even in it's protection with slightly more in nose of the ship and right and left front facing arcs.
To act the role as scout ship, the ship has been fitted with Mobile Hyperpulse Generator (Mobile HPG) and a Naval Comm-Scanner Suite (Large). Mobile Hyperspace Generator can allow for vehicles to contact other similar HPG fitted stations across the universe if their location is known. The Naval Comm-Scanner can link to others using this device for better firing solutions to hit targeted vessel or object.
Cargo[]
- Bay 1 - Fighters (6) - 2 Doors
- Bay 2 - Small Craft (2) - 2 Doors
- Bay 2 - Cargo (11955.5 Tons) - 2 Doors
Variants[]
- Brandt-Class Corvette (SS) - Variant of the standard design, this features Slip Stream drive and extra LF Batteries to allow for longer Jumps than standard 30 Lightyears range normal ships do. Like all Slip Stream equipped ships, it also features ATAC computer which is AI that calculates the jumps.
Notes[]
- The Brandt was originally posted on the official BattleTech Forums as part of the Fate Can Be Cruel - Part II fanstory series.
- Custom Technology: The Brandt uses custom technology only found in the Fate Can Be Cruel / Hegemony alternative universe. It is based on early canon Clan development of technology.
