Description[]

Premonition a Omake style short story based on the Blue Squadron (Battletech x KanColle(ish) crossover) mainstory. It is a Apocrypha story, which is non-canon (didn't happen). A silly story.

Story[]

A feeling similar to vertigo struck Amber Lotus after the hyperjump.

Inazuma Class Corvette (Under Thrust - Iron Metal Works version)

Inazuma Class Corvette DCS Amber Lotus

Bringing a hand to her head to massage away a slight headache, she briefly asked herself if she might have caught a case of Jump-sickness, ridiculous as that notion might have seemed.

She almost stumbled, yet caught herself at the last moment. The movement felt jarring to her in an unfamiliar way. Something was off.

Straightening, she looked down at herself and shrieked in fright.

There were three small children clinging to her front and back. They were causing the jarring sensations.

Freezing, Amber stared down at the figures with wide eyes.

Moments passed. Eventually the children, seeming to be barely older than toddlers, relinquished their grasp on Amber. They floated a short distance away and looked around themselves attentively.

Belatedly the Inazuma realized something. Glancing from figure to figure repeatedly, she made made sure she had seen right.

All three looked just like she did. They had the same japanese features, the same expressions. Colour of eyes and hair also matched hers, though the little ones differed in length and style of their hair.

Still holding her breath and not daring to move, she was startled when a radio-message reached her ears.

"Amber? Are you alright?"

Brest's familiar voice soothed her startled nerves. Breathing a sigh of relief, Amber turned towards her friend.

Gasping in fright, she froze again.

There were small figures around Brest as well. Five of them, and they looked like much younger versions of the Fox too. Yet that fact did not seem to bother the other corvette.

Opening and closing her mouth several times, Amber could not produce a sound. All she managed was a mute nod.

"Are you coming?" Brest queried while flying past, still unperturbed by the small swarm of clones around her.

Turning wordlessly, Amber followed her friend. She realized that they were almost at Jan Mayen Station. They had to have taken a pirate point.

Her three small clones matched her movement and remained in their positions relative to her. Belatedly Amber realized that they were her own dropships.

Which meant...

Looking forwards again, she made the same realization for Brest's companions. Despite not being able to see their hulls, she somehow knew it to be the case.

Glancing between the little ones unbelievingly, time stretched for Amber, and the next moment she was at Jan Mayen.

Swift Justice and La Plata were also there, each surrounded by four and six small versions of themselves respectively.

Taking her parking-position, Amber was too overwhelmed to say anything. Instead she glanced unbelievingly between the many mini-mes of the other warships.

Movement in the corner of her eye caught Amber's attention. An airlock had opened and a crate was floating out of it. It came directly for her.

Amber caught it in her hands. Opening the lid revealed the contents to be food. She was glad for that, since she was suddenly seriously hungry.

Having taken a container out of the crate, she handed it on to Brest.

It was then that a childish voice reached her ears. "I'm hungry."

Amber followed the sound to one of her dropships. The tiny lookalike was wearing a pleading expression.

"I am too!" One of Brest's dropships exclaimed. It was first echoed by one of La Plata's, then several, then all of the present dropships.

All of them had their eyes riveted to Amber. One of Swift Justice's clones began floating towards her. It spurred the rest of them into motion.

Slow at first, all of them gradually converged on the Inazuma, eyes fixated on her.

It was then that Amber realized she could not move any more.

Container of food in hand, she could merely look on with growing dread as the swarm approached.

"What's going on? Help!?" Amber, petrified as she was, called for aid from her squadmates.

The other members of Blue did not seem to have heard her, each munching on their food without a care in the world, expressions happy.

When the horde of children-sized copies reached Amber, her own lookalikes also turned towards her with the same hungry expression on their faces.

Dread was turning into panic, yet Amber could not even scream any more. Eyes wide with terror, she glanced at her friends, silently pleading for help.

Still none of them even looked up from their food.

A terrified whimper was all Amber managed when she felt the first of the tiny girls crawl up her legs. Surrounded and petrified she could do nothing but look on in horror.

Following the example of the first ones, the rest of the swarm crawled up her frame. Eventually Amber was entirely covered by the small bodies. She could see nothing but their faces getting ever closer, and hear nothing but the endlessly repeated phrase. "I'm hungry."

Bolting upright with a gasp, Amber Lotus panted as though she had just run a marathon.

"Are you alright?" Brest's voice was a balm for the Inazuma's frayed nerves. Book in her lap, the brunette was right next to Amber, expression equally concerned as her voice had been.

Exhaling a shaky breath, Amber went with a wordless nod for an answer.

An eyebrow rose in response, but her friend did not question further. Instead the brunette reached over and placed a hand on Amber's back to gently start stroking the tension out of her frame.

After a minute of the pleasant and soothing sensation Amber had regained her composure.

Exhaling again she glanced over at Brest. "I will never eat tuna-pizza before sleep again."

  • Author's Notes
This is the silly idea, and it would not let go of me until I wrote it down.
Now that it is out of my system i can return to progressing the story. Maybe
