Glossary of Salvaging from Strife[]

The following is a very brief reference to different parties and races of Citadel.
This link shows other races of Mass Effect on a Fandom fan wiki for setting.

  • Citadel
This is the ancient space station which was created by forgotten race of interstellar beings known as the Protheans. While race themselves are gone, a collective of aliens have made the giant station they're capital of a galactic spanning government referred to as the Citadel. The Citadel Council is the governing power the government, which consists of representatives from three major powers in Citadel space. The Asari Republics, the Turian Hierarchy, and the Salarian Union. Under the guidence of the Citadel Conventions, the government is structure so no race has upper hand over the others.[1]
  • Spectres
They are seen as trouble shooters and spies of the Council. These are agents of the Citadel, whom answers only to the Office of Special Tactics and Reconnaissance.
  • Citadel Security Services (C-Sec)
This is the agency which handles law enforcement for the Citadel, namely the station itself. It is a volunteer police service answering to the Citadel Council, and is headed by an Executor, who often liaises between C-Sec and the Council.
  • Citadel Fleet
This is the main space defense force of the Citadel.
  • Alien Races of the Citadel
Asari : Native to the planet Thessia, are often considered the most influential and respected sentient species in the galaxy, and are known for their elegance, diplomacy, and biotic aptitude. They are a mono-gender race, the asari are distinctly feminine in appearance and possess maternal instincts. Their unique physiology, expressed in a millennium-long lifespan and the ability to reproduce with a partner of any gender or species, gives them a conservative yet convivial attitude toward other races. Favoring compromise and cooperation over conflict, the Asari were instrumental in proposing and founding the Citadel Council and have been at the heart of galactic society

Turian : Known for their militaristic and disciplined culture. Originally from the planet Palaven, Turians are best known for their military role, particularly their contributions of soldiers and starships to the Citadel Fleet. They are respected for their public service ethic. [2]

Salarian : They are a warm-blooded amphibians native to the planet Sur'Kesh. Salarians are known for their observational capability and non-linear thinking. This manifests as an aptitude for research and espionage. They are constantly experimenting and inventing, and it is generally accepted that they always know more than they are letting on.[3]
  • Non-Citadel Alien Races
Krogan: The krogan are a species of large reptilian bipeds native to the planet Tuchanka, a world known for its harsh environments, scarce resources, and overabundance of vicious predators. With the help of the salarians, the krogan were "uplifted" into galactic society, and lent their numbers and military prowess to bring an end to the Rachni Wars. Ironically, after the rachni were eradicated, the rapidly-expanding krogan became a threat to the galaxy in turn, starting the Krogan Rebellions and forcing the turians to unleash the genophage. This genetic "infection" dramatically reduced fertility in krogan females, causing a severe drop in births secondary to prenatal and postnatal death and, ultimately eliminating the krogan's numerical advantage. They are general considered to be the enemy of the Citadel races.[4]
  • Element Zero / eezo
This is the pivotal resource in the Mass Effect setting. A rare material that, when subjected to an electrical current, releases dark energy which can be manipulated into a mass effect field, raising or lowering the mass of all objects within that field. A positive current increases mass, a negative current decreases it. This "mass effect" is used in countless ways, from generating artificial gravity to manufacturing high-strength construction materials. It is most prominently used to enable faster-than-light space travel without causing time dilation. For the story, this allows for spacecraft the size of Dropships to become Starships. Changing the dynamtics of canon BattleTech universe.[5]
  • Geth
Their name translated as ("Servant of the People" in Khelish) are a race of networked artificial intelligences that reside beyond the Perseus Veil. The geth were created by the Quarians as laborers and tools of war. When the Geth became sentient and began to question their masters, the Quarians attempted to exterminate them. The geth won the resulting war, and reduced the Quarians to a race of nomads. They are the only ones among the in the Mass Effect setting whom can pilot 'Mech like machines like the Humans, which are extension of their individual AI.[6]

Notes from Wiki Editor[]

  • Crossover story: Blending the aspect and especially aliens of the MassEffect Universe into the wardrama setting of BattleTech is pretty unique. It should be reminded to the readers whom may not be familiar with BattleTech, that sentient sapient Aliens do not exist in the BattleTech Universe. This is one of BattleTech's corner stones. This was partially to do with game's origin, during a time that alien races in scifi was the norm. Where the game's setting was making it a human drama, which usually SciFi has heavy alien races presence.
  • Writing Style: The fan author of the setting as requested certain aspects of the story remain untouch, including no extensive details on place & times when evens accrue. Some accommidations have been added to entries on the story archives here with author's request. He has asked somethings done to the story, such sub-chapter not be detailed in later chapters.
  • Chapter Numbering: Though not intentional, the chapters do not match those from where it was originally published. Chapter 1 on the wiki is not counted as a chapter in number ordered. Thus as example; Chapter 16 on original forum where the story originated from is Chapter 17 here.
