Aira Turkowska, callsign Templar, was the younger sister of the Lifeguard Irregulars’ founder Helena. A skilled MechWarrior, Aira spent the majority of her early career serving with the Santiago Division instead of with her sisters’ mercenary unit. Although she never explained her reason for doing so in detail, it is often speculated that Aira didn’t want to live in her elder sister’s shadow which left the two estranged for several decades.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Aira was born in 2999 in the midst of the Third Succession War as the second daughter of Dominik and Alexandra Turkowska and the younger sister of Helena. Although mechanically and technically inclined, Aira struggled to master the art of piloting a BattleMech which left her father disappointed especially in comparison to Helena’s success at The Nagelring. Despite her initial complications, though, Aira went on to become a competent MechWarrior focusing primarily on her gunnery.

In her first bout of differentiating and distancing herself from Helena, Aira did not attend The Nagelring like her father and sister; she instead chose to attend the Coventry Military Academy. She later graduated in 3019 as the ace marksmen of her class. Aira served six years with the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces as a MechWarrior of the 3rd Royal Guards. She was eventually honorably discharged at the rank of Hauptmann in 3025.

Santiago Division[]

BattleMechs[]

Aira’s most recognizable ‘Mech was a WHM-6R Warhammer that she had nicknamed “Templar” to mirror her callsign. In the past, she was known to have also piloted a COM-1B Commando and a CRB-20 Crab which she had salvaged following action against the Draconis Combine. Prior to obtaining her Warhammer, Aira spent time piloting a captured RFL-3N Rifleman which she had obtained while fighting pirates on Memphis. By the time of the Clan Invasion, Aira also piloted a CPLT-K2K Catapult on several missions and was also known to have piloted it during Operation Bulldog.
