Chapter 60 - A Long Journey[]

Word had arrived that the first batch of Lockheed Galactic people would arrive in two weeks, the remaining personnel and all the equipment mid-January. Word had also arrived that all the companies from New Earth had also begun the long journey to Mackolla. Newhart Industries should be departing Thorin any day now. Buhallin Military Products and all their employees would arrive late January and early February, from New Stevens and Dieron. Ulston Armor had departed Terra and New Earth in September with an eta of January. Blow/Hookson Technologies personnel and surviving equipment would arrive mid-February. It was Helen Froy's message
In just a few months housing was going to become a major issue here on Mackolla with the arrival of thousands of workers and their families. He had been forced to hire several local construction companies to build housing on his ranch to house them all. They had started breaking ground at the end of September and so far, seemed to be on schedule with the first apartment buildings with 400 housing units being ready by 1st January. He really hated putting any money into Gov Nelsons hands, but he had no choice.

Helen Froy had broken down her employees from factory workers to security newly hired per his request. His focus was on the security troops she had hired and she seemed to be a good recruiter. She had recruited almost 4,000 personnel which were badly needed. He almost regretted putting out the hiring announcement for Mitchell Transport.
